Overview
Through the combination of theory and practical training, this course provides participants with the necessary knowledge and skills required to respond to an emergency and to commence safe workplace evacuation. Emergencies covered include fire, bomb threats, chemical incidents and terrorism.

- Use of emergency control equipment and facilities-fire blankets, fire doors, fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems
- Command and control evacuation procedures
- Assembly point control
- Co-ordination of emergency services
- Evacuation plan-building requirements
- Site evacuation exercise (if required)
- Assessment of students’ competence
Assessment
Practical, theoretical and application based assessments in consideration of the following competencies:
- PUAWER005B/01: Respond to emergency reports, signals and warnings
- PUAWER005B/02: Initiate and control initial emergency response
- PUAWER005B/03: Anticipate the further development of emergencies
- PUAWER005B/04: Assist with post initial response

Duration
Consideration of site requirements will determine the duration for training. Typically, this course (including site evacuation) is delivered over a period of 4 to 6 hours.

Certification
Upon successful completion of this course, each student will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment.
