Introduction:

The Perform Rescue from a Live LV Panel training course is designed for Emergency Response teams, electricians as well as non-electrical personnel and covers rescue procedures from a live low voltage (LV) apparatus.

The course covers the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution, or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of standard working operations.

This course is designed for candidates who work in Commercial Infrastructure, Electrical Safety, Electricians, Telco's and NBN, telecommunications, those who work on High Rise Buildings, TV Antenna installers, Shop fitters, Professional Industries involving Construction and or electrical installation, those who work with Gas and/or refrigeration.

Effectively any candidate who comes into contact with electricity during their day-to-day work should be trained in Low Voltage Rescue.

PPE Requirements - Enclosed footwear, long pants and a sleeved shirt are required at Baseline Training courses. 

  • Pre-Requisite Unit - There are no formal entry requirements stipulated for this program
  • Fitness Requirement - Training and assessment involves moderate to high physical activity. Candidates are required to be able to freely walk, bend and twist, perform safe lifting techniques and be familiar with typical workplace risk and safety protocols
  • Fitness Requirement - As an accredited training package, the requirement of this course states that learners are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills - Candidates must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills
Upon successful completion of this course, each candidate will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
 
First Aid action can provide knowledge and practical skills to perform a safe rescue of a casualty who has received an electric shock or other injuries while working on low voltage conductors or equipment.


The Perform Rescue from a live low voltage (LV) apparatus training course combined with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a comprehensive course delivered through a combination of hands on practical and theoretical activities, scenario based real-life exercises and candidate assessments. Candidates will be required to demonstrate LVR rescue and CPR techniques.

6 Hour course | Classroom based or onsite workplace training
Delivery consists of face to face and practical simulations

Additional Information: 
Note: There is a physical component to this course. Candidates will be required to participate in role play activities, practical assessments and be able to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor.

The Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines [10.1] recommend that refresher training in CPR is completed every 12 months.

The Safe Work Australia | First Aid in the Workplace - Code of Practice [July 2019] recommends the frequency of training for First Aiders as refresher training in CPR should be carried out annually and first aid qualifications should be renewed every three years.

  • Obtain and identify instructions in hazards and risk control measures
  • Legal, workplace and community considerations
  • Identify and understand workplace procedures for applying CPR at the site and gain access to treatment by a medical professional
  • Identify electricity isolation points
  • Carry out rescue from live low voltage panel
  • Report accidents/incidents to authorised personnel in accordance with established procedures
