The course is designed for Port and Port Facility Security Officers and their deputies to provide them with training to meet the mandatory training requirements laid down in the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003, it also meets the training requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code.

Any other candidates involved in managing or supervising Port or Port Facility security would also benefit from this training.

PPE Requirements - Enclosed footwear, long pants and a sleeved shirt are required 

  • Pre-Requisite Unit - There are no formal entry requirements stipulated for this program
  • Fitness Requirement - Training and assessment involves moderate to high physical activity. Candidates are required to be able to freely walk, bend and twist, perform safe lifting techniques and be familiar with typical workplace risk and safety protocols
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills - Candidates must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance.

Two-day program | Delivered face to face, and include practical simulations.

  • All personnel involved in maritime and port security activities are required by law to undertake training to comply with the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003. ( Regulation 1.25(4)(b) and Regulation 3.115)
  • All Port and Port Facility Security Officers (PSO or PFSO) are required to undertake training as set out in their Port or Port Facility Maritime Security Plan
  • This course meets the requirements set out in the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003
