Introduction:

Refresher Courses | Our refresher courses are short duration training courses designed for workers/candidates who hold existing accredited competencies delivered by our full courses.

Entry Requirements:
The candidate must have completed confined space with breathing apparatus initial course within last 2 years and present proof of attainment upon enrolment.

Through the combination of theory and practical training, this course provides candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills required to work safely in confined spaces as per AS/NZS 2865:2009 (Confined Spaces). This training is suitable for employees who are required enter confined spaces for maintenance, servicing or vessels.
 
Candidates are guided through recognition of typical hazardous conditions relating to confined spaces including; oxygen depletion, combustible atmospheres and atmospheric contaminants. Armed with the knowledge to identify potential hazards, candidates learn how to assess a task, control the hazards and develop and implement safe work practices.

This course is designed for personnel who may be required to: 
• Design, modify or conduct works on or in confined spaces
• Are involved in processes to identify or conduct risk assessments on confined spaces
• Enter or work within confined spaces
• Undertake the role of the standby person
• Participate in confined space rescue or emergency procedures
• Provide workplace Emergency Response where there may be a risk to air quality

PPE Requirements - Enclosed footwear, long pants and a sleeved shirt are required at Baseline Training courses.  

  • Entry Requirement - The candidate must have completed confined space with breathing apparatus initial course within last 2 years and present proof of attainment upon enrolment
  • Pre-Requisite Unit - MSMPER200 Work in accordance with an issued permit [included as part of the course]
  • Fitness Requirement - Training and assessment involves moderate to high physical activity. Candidates are required to be able to freely walk, bend and twist, perform safe lifting techniques and be familiar with typical workplace risk and safety protocols
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills - Candidates must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Additional Information - Candidates MUST be clean shaven as per AS1715 Sect. 4.4.3.1 Facial Fit, General
Upon successful completion of this course, each candidate will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
 
Learners cover the duties of confined space operators, standby personnel and rescue crews all of these are presented in a combination of classroom and practical activities.


The assessments for this program have been designed to assess a candidate’s competence in accordance with the relevant endorsed Training Packages, applicable Legislation & Australian Standards and the proprietary requirements of the organisation or workplace. The assessments will consist of both written and practical components.
