Introduction:

Our Issue Work Permits training course is designed for personnel who may be required to issue Confined Space entry permits, Hot Work permits, Work at Height permits or other workplace specific work permits.

This course covers all of the required information for personnel to select the most appropriate work permit, obtain all of the work information from a Job Safety Analysis [JSA] or Risk Assessment and issue a permit to work.

Training is particularly suited to supervisors of Confined Space work, Work at Heights in addition to Hot Works.

  • Prepare work site for authorised work
  • Raise and issue work permits
  • Monitor work for compliance
  • Receive end of day report
  • Close work permit

PPE Requirements - Enclosed footwear, long pants and a sleeved shirt are required at Baseline Training courses. 
  • Pre-Requisite Unit - MSMWHS201 Conduct hazard analysis. [Unit is delivered as part of the course]
  • Fitness Requirement - Training and assessment involves moderate to high physical activity. Candidates are required to be able to freely walk, bend and twist, perform safe lifting techniques and be familiar with typical workplace risk and safety protocols
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills - Candidates must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills
Provide candidates with the framework for personnel who issue work permits and to ensure that they understand the permit system.  Understand and know the limitations of each permit to support decision making regarding the need for and correct use of each permit.

The assessments for this program have been designed to assess a person’s competence in accordance with the Resources & Infrastructure Industry Training Package, any relevant Legislation and the proprietary requirements of the organisation or workplace. The assessment will consist of both a written and practical components.  
 
• 6 hour course | Classroom based or onsite workplace training
• Delivery consists of face to face and practical simulations

  • Upon Successful completion of this course, each candidate will receive a nationally recognised accredited Statement of Attainment
  • MSMPER300 Issue work permits
  • MSMWHS201 Conduct hazard analysis
  • Permit legislative requirements
  • Completing a review of the scope of work
  • Selecting the most appropriate permit for the work task
  • Liaising with the work team to review the JSA/risk assessment & document hazard controls on the work permit
  • Isolation procedures
  • Determining the appropriate conditions for the permit
  • Raising, authorising & issuing the necessary permit Monitoring compliance with permit conditions and the JSA/ risk assessment
  • Managing the permit process, e.g. extensions, handovers, changes etc
  • Signing off work permits on completion of work
  • Ensuring that workplace procedures are complied with for the entire permit process
