Introduction:

The Advanced First Aid course provides a set of skills to provide an advanced first aid response in the event of an emergency. It is relevant for personnel who are the designated first aiders‚ particularly those working in emergency response, construction, mining or any occupation involving hazardous work.

This course applies to candidates who are required to manage and provide an Emergency First Aid response in a workplace or within the community.
 
This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to provide advanced First Aid response‚ including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

 
  • Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework
  • Advanced first aiders may be relied upon to coordinate and manage the response to the incident until professionals arrive
  • Advanced first aid also covers a broader range of cases such as major trauma, sudden cardiac arrest, management of large incidents and treatment of emotionally disturbed and drug affected casualties
The Provide Advanced First Aid course is a comprehensive course delivered via a blended delivery model of both online and face-to- face training.  This model includes a combination of hands on practical and theoretical activities‚ scenario based real-life exercises and candidate assessment.

It is suitable to both people in workplaces and members of the public wish to undertake training in Advanced First Aid.  All components of the course are written in accordance with the ARC guidelines.
Note: There is a physical component to this provide first aid course. Participants will be required to participate in role play activities, practical assessments and be able to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor.

Course Outline:

This training program is tailored for candidates with either no former First Aid training and for candidates who are undertaking renewal of their First Aid qualifications.

1. Pre-Course Theory and assessment questions completed online, prior to course attendance
2. Face-to-Face practical course with a core focus on practical application of skills required
