Introduction:
This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to respond to serious medical emergencies using advanced resuscitation techniques and oxygen therapy.
Participants will learn how to perform CPR, use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), manage airways and provide oxygen therapy using appropriate resuscitation equipment. Training also covers the safe operation of oxygen equipment, monitoring casualties and providing ongoing care until further medical assistance is available.
The course is suitable for personnel who may be required to provide an advanced emergency response in workplace, community or high-risk environments.

This course applies to candidates who are required to manage and provide an Emergency First Aid response in a workplace or within the community.
This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to provide advanced First Aid response‚ including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

- Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework
- Advanced first aiders may be relied upon to coordinate and manage the response to the incident until professionals arrive
- Advanced first aid also covers a broader range of cases such as major trauma, sudden cardiac arrest, management of large incidents and treatment of emotionally disturbed and drug affected casualties
On successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recognise and assess emergency situations and identify the need for an advanced first aid response
- Perform CPR in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines
- Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively
- Assess and manage a range of injuries, illnesses and medical emergencies
- Use appropriate first aid equipment and resources
- Monitor casualties and coordinate first aid activities until medical assistance arrives
- Coordinate casualty evacuation where required
- Communicate effectively with emergency services and other personnel
- Accurately report and document first aid incidents
- Review a first aid response and recognise the potential psychological impacts of emergency incidents
Course Outline:
This training program is tailored for candidates with either no former First Aid training and for candidates who are undertaking renewal of their First Aid qualifications.1. Pre-Course Theory and assessment questions completed online, prior to course attendance
