Introduction:

The Advanced First Aid course provides a set of skills to provide an advanced first aid response in the event of an emergency. It is relevant for personnel who are the designated first aiders‚ particularly those working in emergency response, construction, mining or any occupation involving hazardous work.

The Provide Advanced Resuscitation course provides a set of skills to provide an advanced response in the event of an emergency. It is relevant for personnel who are the designated first aiders‚ and will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to effectively operate advanced resuscitation equipment such as oxygen and a defibrillator.

This course applies to candidates who are required to manage and provide an Emergency First Aid response in a workplace or within the community.
 
This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to provide advanced First Aid response‚ including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

The 
Provide Advanced Resuscitation element of the course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to understand the safety requirements when handling an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)‚ as well as the skills to use an AED within the first minutes after a cardiac arrest, as well as skills and knowledge to safely perform oxygen therapy and resuscitation in the workplace.
 
Provide advanced resuscitation is an important training component for those working, or wishing to work, in diverse fields including:
 
• Occupational First Aid
• Medical Service and Emergency Response
• Mining and Resources sectors
• Aviation
• Nursing
• Primary Health Care
 
  • A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment recognised by the Australian Qualifications Training Framework, for the following units of competency:
  • HLTAID014 Provide Advanced first aid
  • HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
The combined Provide Advanced First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation course is a comprehensive course delivered through a combination of hands on practical and theoretical activities‚ scenario based real-life exercises and candidate assessment.

It is suitable to both people in workplaces and members of the public wish to undertake Advanced level training in First Aid and Resuscitation.  All components of the course are written in accordance with the ARC guidelines.

Note: There is a physical component to this provide first aid course. Participants will be required to participate in role play activities, practical assessments and be able to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor.

Course Outline:

This training program is tailored for candidates required to undertake advanced level First Aid qualifications.

This program incorporates:
 
• HLTAID014 Provide Advanced first aid
• HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy

Pre-requisite requirement [candidate must provide evidence upon enrolment]:
• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
