This comprehensive practical training course will provide participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to use the fire safety equipment within their workplace during an emergency.
The programme covers demonstrating the use of a portable fire extinguisher – both CO2 and water – plus the effective and safe use of a fire blanket.
All work in this area must be completed in accordance with relevant legislative, industry, customer and organisational requirements, including work health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures.

If you are an occupant of a facility who is required to have first attack firefighting skills for small emergencies, such as small fires that can be controlled using a fire extinguisher; chemical spills that can be controlled using facility personal protective clothing and equipment and a spill kit; or a vehicle accident where there is no significant injury or damage, this course would be suitable for you.
  • Upon successful completion of this course, each participant will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following unit:
  • PUAFER008 - Confine small emergencies in a facility
The assessments for this program have been designed to assess a candidate’s competence in accordance with the relevant endorsed Training Packages, applicable Legislation & Australian Standards and the proprietary requirements of the organisation or workplace.
