Course Overview

This course is targeted at people who work or are seeking employment in the mining and emergency response sectors.

This qualification reflects the role of emergency response and rescue team members working in the resources and infrastructure industries, who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications in a wide variety of contexts, which involve some discretion and judgment in selecting equipment, services, or contingency measures.

Certificate II in Public Safety

This Qualification, PUA20619 Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations), is designed for individuals wishing to further their level of knowledge and skills in firefighting and emergency response. Participants will ideally be currently engaged in firefighting and emergency response activities in the community or workplace, or looking to enter this industry. This course is designed for organisations and individuals responsible for public safety and for those working in public safety roles including:

Target groups include:

  • Mines rescue crew personnel
  • Emergency response teams
  • Fire and emergency services personnel; and
  • Any individual responsible for participating in firefighting and rescue operations


Course Cost:                       Full Course: $4,850 per person

RPL Application: $2,750 per person

Course Duration and Requirements

  • This course is delivered in 4 x Face to Face Training block
  • 16 Days Face to Face + Online theory component, where required (contact us for the full course schedule of dates)
  • Completion of a Workplace Logbook is required to demonstrate skills and knowledge relevant within the sector
  • Entry requirement – HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (within 3 years)
