Introduction:

The Provide First Aid course is the minimum requirement for workplace First Aid compliance.  This course presents to you a comprehensive overview of the skills and knowledge required to provide First Aid emergency response‚ life support, and management of casualties until qualified medical help arrives at the scene.

You will be shown recommended early responder medical care for a wide range of emergencies from sprained ankles to broken bones, insect bites to potential shark bites, and from heat stroke to cardiac arrest, from struggling to breathe to poisoning, and more.

You’ll learn how to manage life-threatening medical emergencies, including providing CPR, using an AED (automatic external defibrillator), and following the DRSABCD emergency actions plan strategy.  You’ll also come to understand your legal responsibilities as a First Aider.

Whether it is for workplace or individual needs‚ Baseline Training’s comprehensive Provide First Aid course aims to equip candidates with the essential skills knowledge and practical experience they need to carry out First Aid.  Our highly experienced facilitators will provide an in-depth practical education and experience on how to assess, manage and provide First Aid.  

Our Nationally Accredited training includes how to respond to many common medical emergencies including treatment of Asthma, how to use DRSABCD protocol, the use of an EpiPen for critical allergic reactions and how and when to use an AED for defibrillation.

PPE Requirements - Enclosed footwear, long pants and a sleeved shirt are required at Baseline Training courses. 

  • Pre-Requisite Unit - There are no formal entry requirements stipulated for this program
  • Fitness Requirement - Training and assessment involves moderate to high physical activity. Candidates are required to be able to freely walk, bend and twist, perform safe lifting techniques and be familiar with typical workplace risk and safety protocols
  • Fitness Requirement - As an accredited training package, the requirement of this course states that learners are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills - Candidates must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills
Upon successful completion of this course, each candidate will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. 
 
First Aid knowledge is invaluable for an individual to assist persons who become injured in the event of an accident or emergency situation until help arrives. No matter where you work or live, accidents happen – and that’s where the right level of training and awareness can step in and potentially save lives

The Provide First Aid course is delivered via a blended delivery model of both online and face-to- face training.  This model includes a combination of hands on practical and theoretical activities‚ scenario based real-life exercises and candidate assessment. It is suitable to both people in workplaces and members of the public wish to undertake training in First Aid.  All components of the course are written in accordance with the ARC guidelines.

Additional Information:
The Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines [
10.1] recommend that refresher training in CPR is completed every 12 months.

The Safe Work Australia | First Aid in the Workplace – Code of Practice [July 2019] recommends the frequency of training for First Aiders as refresher training in CPR should be carried out annually and first aid qualifications should be renewed every three years.
