Introduction:

The Occupational First Aid Skill Set comprises of learning across four (4) First Aid courses – and is recognised and meets industry requirements to perform the role and responsibilities required of an Occupational First Aider.

The comprehensive course training comprises of practical training through face-to-face delivery within the scope of learning each of the following units of competency;
 
• HLTAID011 Provide first aid [*pre-requisite requirement of HLTAID015]
• HLTAID014 Provide Advanced first aid
• HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
• HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources

The Occupational First Aid skill set has been endorsed by industry as appropriate for people who are either employed in‚ or intending to become employed in, nominated Occupational First Aider and senior and/or management roles.

PPE Requirements - Enclosed footwear, long pants and a sleeved shirt are required at Baseline Training courses. 
  • Pre-Requisite Unit - HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • Fitness Requirement - Training and assessment involves moderate to high physical activity. Candidates are required to be able to freely walk, bend and twist, perform safe lifting techniques and be familiar with typical workplace risk and safety protocols
  • Fitness Requirement - As an accredited training package, the requirement of this course states that learners are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills - Candidates must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills
Upon successful completion of this course, each candidate will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Training Framework.
 
Provides advanced knowledge and skills to carry out emergency first aid for injuries and illnesses in the workplace and designed to meet the needs of those who require or would like to obtain a higher level of first aid.

Occupational First Aid [HLTSS00068] is a comprehensive stand-alone course.  The course enables candidates and key First Aid personnel to obtain the skill-set required to confidently respond to an emergency in a timely, effective and qualified manner.

3 Day course | Classroom based or onsite workplace training
Delivery consists of face to face and practical simulations

  • A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment recognised by the Australian Qualifications Training Framework, for the following units of competency:
  • HLTAID014 Provide Advanced first aid
  • HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
  • HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources
  • Administering CPR to adults, infants and children
  • Defibrillator training using real emergency equipment within a simulated incident environment
  • Teamwork emergency response exercises simulating workplace settings
  • EpiPen training for treating anaphylactic shock victims
  • Bandaging and supporting broken bones, sprains and strains
